What are Section # 105 medical expense reimbursement plans?

Medical expense reimbursement plans (MERPS) allow employers under "section 105" of the IRS rules to fund certain out-of-pocket medical expenses for all their employees. These specified expenses can include co-pays, deductibles and more. Employers are allowed to write off 100 percent of the cost of the incurred expenses. Employees appreciate the greater flexibility of the MERP, because the plans can reimburse them for medical expenses often not covered by regular insurance benefits.

After initial enrollment on a carrier, what role does the Linden Group serve?

A typical broker may "slip away" after carrier installation has been completed, but at the Linden Group our work is just beginning. A dedicated customer service representative is assigned and will contact a new client to review all administrative procedures in person. Once the plan administrator has been educated, the Linden Group CSR and sale professional will continue to partner with the client by being a valuable resource offering to answer questions, assist in correcting administrative errors and trouble shoot difficult claim issues. How does the Linden Group handle employer groups at renewal time?

Depending on each group’s own specifications, our sales professional will start the renewal process up to four months ahead of a group’s anniversary date. At that time, our sales professional will meet with the client to prepare them for the renewal, update them on market conditions and to see if any of the group’s needs have changed since last anniversary. As soon as the current carrier’s renewal package has been produced and negotiated, the renewal is presented along with competitive options from the market in order for the client to make an informed decision in a timely fashion.
